"God's Loving Light Shines Through Us and Our Actions"
Saint John Vianney School was established in 1962 and is located near a small-business center area and residential section of Colonia, New Jersey. The school campus is comprised of two separate buildings: the main school and the pre-school. The main school is connected to the Church. Also on the property are the rectory and the convent.
The main school entrance is through the parish center doors. At this entrance, there is a reception area which is manned as long as the building is open. The parish center houses a gym, a small kitchen, a stage, and office space behind the stage. The space doubles as a gym and auditorium used by the school and community groups. Other areas of the main school include a library/media center, a cafeteria with a commercial kitchen, the technology room, the science lab, and three levels of classrooms, including classrooms for Music, Art, Health, and World Language. The food service area is easily converted for multiple uses including school and community affairs. A nurse's station is on the main floor and is staffed during school hours; defibrillators are mounted on the wall by the gym and the church. Also on the main floor is the main office with an administrative staff workspace, and offices for the principal and the assistant principal. On the bottom floor is the office of the director of religious education.
The preschool building is located across the parking lot from the main school so classes can easily walk over to utilize the facilities in the main school. It has four classrooms on two levels and a common area in the basement.
Outside there is one large playground, a smaller one set up with playground equipment, and a large soccer field.
Both buildings are equipped with fire alarms, smoke detectors, pull stations, and fire bells, and secured main doors.
