The current members of the 2018-19 chapter of the National Junior Honor Society are: Alexis Cutignola, Secretary; Patrick Kelly; Adrian Hou, WebSite Coordinator; Rachel Hou; Gabriella Mouris; Charlotte Murphy, Treasurer; and Jack Rachinsky, President.
This year, the SJV-NJHS plans to make progress on certain world issues, especially the global water crisis and world hunger. We will be working with Change for Global Change, an organization dedicated to raising money for sustainability projects, particularly ones that address the global water crisis in areas of water scarcity. We will be sponsoring dress downs, pretzel/bagel treats, and other fundraisers to collect money to donate to Change for Change.
The SJV Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society also runs the Peer Tutoring Program, which helps children in younger grades with their schoolwork by reinforcing concepts learned in class.
The National Junior Honor Society is the nation's leading student organization that recognizes outstanding students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. These five pillars of the NJHS have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1929. Membership not only recognizes students for their accomplishments but challenges them to develop further through active involvement in school activities and community service.
The SJV Chapter of the NJHS seeks to inform our community of both global and local concerns through presentations and demonstrations while helping to solve that problem through service, fundraising, and drives.
